UPDATED: We are sad to report that Teddy passed away this morning (December 14, 2017). His owner, Fran English, posted this touching tribute to him on Facebook.
A 26-year-old cat named Teddy is the oldest cat in Australia. His owner, Fran English, has applied to the Guinness Book of World Records with the hope of claiming Teddy as the oldest cat in the world after the recent passing of Nutmeg at the age of 32.
Teddy used to try to sneak into the shower with English. Now she gives him his own daily shower.
Teddy still wanders around outside a little bit, and every morning he nibbles on a sprig of rosemary from English’s garden.
English adopted Teddy in 2014 when his original owner moved into a nursing home. She was shocked when his microchip showed that he was born in 1991!
Teddy gets tuna every morning and kangaroo meat for dinner, along with various supplements.
26 in human years is about 144 in cat years, but Teddy is healthy apart from some arthritis.
Here’s hoping he has many more healthy years!
