On a day with a heat advisory in effect, 47 cats were found locked inside of a car. A stranger saw the shocking display at a rest stop and contacted authorities. They learned that the owner of the cats had been living inside the vehicle with them for some time, and this person was cooperative in handing them over to investigators.
The cats ranged in age from a little under a year old to more than 12 years old. They appeared to only have minor medical issues and would make full recoveries. The cats are under the care of Animal Humane Society and will go up for adoption once ready.
