5 Ways Adopting a Second Cat Will Benefit You (As If You Needed Convincing)

| October 9, 2015

We recently posted an article about the ways adopting a second cat will benefit your current cat. As you may suspect, the benefits to adopting a second cat don’t stop there. Adding a new kitty to your family can be great for YOU too!

Double Cuddles
One of the greatest benefits of adding a second cat to your home is that it doubles your access to cuddles. When I added a second cat to my family, all of a sudden there was almost always at least one of them twirling around my legs, sleeping on my lap, or making biscuits on my belly.

Endless Entertainment
It never gets old to watch my cats wrestle, groom each other, or chase each other around the house. It’s better than any movie. And since cats don’t play constantly, I should note that it’s somehow just as entertaining to watch them snooze.

It’ll Give You a Break
When your cat has a live-in buddy, it’ll give you a break from being your cat’s main source of interactive play. With two cats, you won’t have to feel guilty when you’re too busy for playtime. Your cats will give each other all of the stimulation and exercise they need to be healthy and happy.

Warmer In the Winter
Cats get cuddlier in the winter, which is great because they essentially act as small, furry space heaters for you! Adding another cat to your family will get you one step closer to having a full-coverage purring cat blanket.

Double Love
Lastly (but certainly not least), adding another cat to your family will give you double the love and affection. You’ll be amazed at how much your heart can grow with love for your new cat– and we can all use a reminder every now and then about how endlessly elastic our hearts can be.
