Britain’s most famous internet cats, The Magnificent 7 Cats, are Rocky, Prince, Junior, Ugs, Princess Pixie, Tom and Norman. They live with their people in London, England.
Over the last weeks we’ve been meeting each cat in turn. This week it’s Norman.
Norman is a 3-year old bi-colour Persian with stunning golden eyes. He has an incredibly expressive face and can look quite scholarly sometimes. You get the impression he should have a pair of half-moon spectacles on the end of his nose.
Poor Norman was very much the runt of his litter. He was hand-reared by his breeder and at one point it really didn’t look as though he was going to make it. His people saw a picture of him on the breeder’s website and he looked so pathetic – but so utterly cute – they had to meet him.
It was really touch-and-go for Norman. He was due to go home with his people at 12 weeks but it was several months later before he was strong enough to leave his litter. But look at him now!
Norman has always been a bit of a scaredy-cat – he was literally frightened of his own shadow. Even now he can be twitchy and hates sudden movements and loud noises. But with lots of love and a very helpful session with renowned pet-communicator Laura Stinchfield, Norman has made great progress. He’s a very happy little boy.
Norman’s favourite time is mom’s bed-time; he really likes to monopolise her and will jump onto the bed with a loud meow! He wants to be snuggled and will push his head into mom’s face for her to kiss his cheeks while he purrs happily. And then gets bored and he’s off!
Norman has one obsession: Princess Pixie! Pixie is Norman’s stunning ragdoll sibling – the only girl in the Magnificent 7 Cats. Norman will stalk Pixie around the house, creeping-up to be as close to her as possible. Sadly, Pixie’s feelings aren’t mutual (to put it mildly) and she’ll do anything to get away from him. Norman love to love; he’ll arch his back and meow persistently until mom picks him up for a snuggle.
Norman can be a bit of a loner. He’s most comfortable hiding in small spaces – usually under the bed in a box. He’s not keen on being disturbed until he’s ready.
Norman is fascinated with the outside world. He’ll spend time, after dark, perched up on the window ledge staring at whatever passes-by. He loves watching the wind in the trees. Occasionally he’ll see a group of foxes wander-by (a skulk of foxes, apparently) – Norman’s eyes are glued to them!
Despite putting on the Ritz and looking pretty darned dapper, Pixie just doesn’t buy it!
