Cat Sent Back To Shelter After The Others Picked On Her

| December 5, 2024

It’s always tough to see an animal returned to the shelter. Shelter staff does all they can to find the animal a new home, but this is far from easy. Recently, one sweet cat faced this heartbreaking reality after being sent back because the other cats in her foster home were “picking on” her. However, after enduring a difficult journey and a long wait, Ahsoka’s story finally turned around for the better. Ahsoka, a beautiful 3-year-old cat, had been living in a foster home while waiting for adoption. Sadly, after more than 260 days, the situation took a bad turn.

According to the Humane Society of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the other cats in the home were bullying Ahsoka, even guarding the litter box so she couldn’t use it. With no other choice, Ahsoka was returned to the shelter.

“She doesn’t understand why she’s back,” the shelter shared on TikTok. To make things even harder, Ahsoka soon became the shelter’s longest resident, waiting over a year for someone to adopt her. Despite the setback, the staff remained optimistic that her perfect family was out there somewhere.

“This affectionate girl is very vocal and loves pets and cuddles on her terms,” the Humane Society wrote. “Ahsoka is playful, enjoys interactive toys, and her soft coat and unique coloring make her a beauty. She gets along with other cats, kids, and is litter box trained. She’s the perfect cat! Please don’t let her wait one more day for a loving home.”

Ahsoka’s story touched many hearts after it was shared on TikTok, where it quickly gained over 1.3 million views. The attention paid off! Soon, Ahsoka received the news everyone had been waiting for: she had been adopted!

Sadly, this seems to have been a disturbing pattern that must be addressed. To protect future animals and provide him with the support he needs, he must be banned from ever owning animals again and undergo mandatory counseling.

Her new mom posted a TikTok showing Ahsoka happily settling into her forever home. It’s a true tale of triumph. From being overlooked and picked on, Ahsoka now has the loving home she always deserved.
