Calico kitten Carla almost didn’t get the chance to be the mischievous beauty she is today.

But thanks to the person Chatons Orphelins Montréal calls a “good fairy”, Carla is living a kitten’s dream life.

As a newborn kitten, barely a day old, Carla found herself alone and hungry. Brand new to the world, she had no way to fend for herself, so the tiny kitten did the only thing she could. She cried out for help, her little voice ringing loud into the night.

Hearing the kitten cries, the good fairy ran to the bushes and saw little Carla. But she didn’t immediately pick her up. The smart woman waited to see if Carla’s mom would come back. When mom didn’t return for her youngling overnight, the good fairy swooped in and rescued the kitten.

Newborn in Need

As Carla was so little and in need of a foster mom with experience with newborn kittens, the good fairy helped transfer Carla to Montreal-based cat rescue Chatons Orphelins Montréal.

When Carla arrived at the rescue, Celine Crom of Chatons Orphelins Montréal told Love Meow, “She was so hungry that she threw herself at the milk bottle, trying desperately to eat.”

Carla may have been so young her weren’t yet open, but her appetite was working fine. Soon, the little one had the big, round belly of a happy kitten!

To keep that belly nice and big so Carla could grow into a healthy cat, “her foster mom bottle-fed her every two hours.”

“From the beginning, the kitten loved to be near her human and to be petted. She recognized her foster mom by her scent and constantly cried for her attention and extra cuddle time.”

Like her tummy, Carla’s meows were so big to be so little!

Kitten Princess

As a bottle baby singleton, Carla has grown quite used to being lavished with attention. On Facebook, Celine shared, “She’s a little princess.”

And Princess Carla is not only loud-spoken, but she has no fear in life. The mischievous kitten loves to climb and explore as well as play with the other cats in her foster home. “She has a great joy of living and she is not afraid of anything.”

But the princess has decided she wants extra time before letting go of the bottle. Celine said, “She’s a bottle addict. She drinks them like shooters.”

Soon, Carla will have to say good-bye to her bottle as she’ll be heading for her forever home. Thanks to her good fairy and the magic of foster and rescue, Carla is a kitten princess whose life has become a purrfect fairytale.
