Eggbert the cat became an instant hit when his photo was posted on the adoptable pets page by an Ohio animal shelter. Within just a day, this endearing feline had already charmed his way into a new home, a testament to his irresistible allure.
But Eggbert is not just any cat. He’s extraordinary in more ways than one. What makes this dashing tabby truly stand out is not just his infectious personality but also his distinctive appearance. Eggbert was born with a unique condition – he lacks one eye and one nostril. Despite these physical differences, the Fairfield Area Humane Society in Lancaster, Ohio, emphasizes that Eggbert doesn’t let anything dampen his spirits or hinder his enjoyment of life. This special cat, with his loveable nature and captivating charm, shows that beauty truly comes in all forms.
Lovebug Finds Home in A Hurry
It’s no wonder Eggbert found his family so fast! Not only is he handsome, his bio on the Fairfield Area Humane Society’s Facebook page painted two-year-old Eggbert out to be an “absolute angel of a kitty.”
As the Fairfield shelter shared, “He was born missing an eye and a nostril but aside from snoring like a chainsaw, it doesn’t slow him down a bit!”
“He loves to give headbutts, have his chin scratched, and follow you around like a baby duck.”
Fairfield also shared that Eggbert had suffered occasional seizures in the past. While in their care, he’d experienced none, but the shelter “will work closely with his adopter to continue monitoring him and treating for epilepsy if needed.”
Eggbert sounds just purrfect, and that’s precisely what cat mom Holly Starr thought when she saw this special cat on Facebook. She knew Eggbert was meant to be part of her family right away. She also reckoned her kitty Lark; a one-eyed cutie also adopted from Fairfield, would love him, too.
Fairfield agreed, commenting, “They would be great friends.”
Holly called the shelter the next morning and scheduled an appointment to meet Eggbert. That fast, Eggbert found his family! Now, he’s happy in his forever home with his new best buddy, Lark. And it sounds like Eggbert has years of spoiling ahead!
Holly told Newsweek, “I’ve always had a special place in my heart for the animals with special needs, I want to make sure they have a loving home where they get all the attention they can handle.”
Fairfield said, “We know Eggy is in the best hands. He couldn’t have found a better home! He is going to be loved and spoiled rotten.”
Special needs cats often go overlooked when up for adoption, but these tough kitties have so much love to give. When it’s time to add another cat to the family, consider adopting a special needs cat. The rewards pay in love, purrs, and whiskery kisses!
