Celine is one feline who felt the promise of forever only to find it wasn’t the glass slipper fit everyone hoped it would be. But Few Steps From Home Animal Rescue was there for her, welcoming her back to their care when she had to continue the search.

Doing Good Together

Through our partnership with Greater Good Charities, we ensure shelter cats receive food and other necessities while waiting for their forever home. To date, the GOODS Program has delivered over 578 million meals to shelters and rescues nationwide. That’s more than 6,000 truckloads delivered to hungry animals!

But it’s not just about the food; the GOODS Program also ensures that rescues and shelters receive other important necessities, including toys. And when kittens and cats have toys to play with and good food to eat while in rescue and foster care, they learn how to be happy and loving felines for their forever homes.

Though Celine had learned these things with Few Steps From Home during her first stay, the rescue explained she returned to them just a few months later because she and the resident cat hadn’t gotten along.

“At first, we thought she was just afraid because she was in a new place,” shared Few Steps From Home. “This poor little angel must have gone through some trauma because she is still afraid of us and her rescue mates. All of us volunteers are working with her so she knows that she is loved and has a home with us forever.”

Celine is slowly understanding she’s safe, and one of the toys from the GOODS donations is surely helping.

“Celine absolutely loves her Hartz chirping bird. We have tried many toys but the chirping bird has brought her out of her shell. It is so satisfying to see her enjoy herself. We hope she will know only love and happiness now and into the future.”

Few Steps From Home has this hope not just for Celine, but for every kitty who comes into their care. And sometimes, staying with the rescue is the best forever a cat could ask for.
