When cats fall asleep, like really good and out, their extreme snoozing can be alarming to their parents. Kitties curled up tight and caught in the stillness of deep sleep can fool us badly enough, we sometimes have to give the cat a nudge in the fur to see if they’re truly okay. We know they are, but we still have to check.
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay recently learned the depth of his cat’s napping abilities while being silly with his son.
Known more for his colorful vocabulary than tender feelings, Ramsay revealed a soft moment when his conked-out cat gave him a bit of a fright. He caught the scare on camera while asking 1-year-old son Oscar about a missing shoe. Definitely a familiar conversation between parents and small children.

And Oscar’s response was pretty typical too. Rather than seeking the shoe in question, Oscar instead takes off. His toddling bumps him right into a chair where the Ramsay family’s fluffy cat soundly sleeps.
When the cat doesn’t stir, Ramsay pauses in pursuing Oscar to be sure his kitty is okay. He asks, “Oops, the cat… Is it dead? Is it…”

He gives the cat a gentle push and those grey ears flick back as the sleepy cat raises his head. The subtle movement certainly asks, “Who disturbs my slumber?”
Ramsay is relieved at the cat’s movement, saying, “Oh no, it’s alive – thank god for that!”

And just like that, a dozing cat fools a cat parent!

“Cats sleep, anywhere,
Any table, any chair

In the middle, on the edge,
Open drawer, empty shoe,

Fitted in a cardboard box,
In the cupboard, with your frocks-

So the lesson here? It doesn’t matter if dad is a celebrity or not, sometimes felines sometimes sleep so deeply they scare their parents. But, we should remember, before disturbing a soundly-sleeping kitty, cats are experts when its comes to napping!
