Who could have predicted a weatherman would fall for a cat?
Cat lovers, that’s who, and there’s a 100% chance they saw it coming.
How?
Because though cats can be partly stormy little creatures, they’re mostly lovey! And the love of a cat feels as warm as the sun on the heart.
That’s just what News Center Maine meteorologist Todd Gutner learned after adopting a cat he swore he’d never get! The kitten has now been part of his family for a few months and occasionally makes appearances on his forecasts.

In a recent segment, Todd held up Aries for the world to see, greeting the little house panther with, “Hi, baby!”
His tone was that one all cat parents use. We can’t help ourselves; the love just oozes out of us in a goofy voice. So, there’s proof Todd’s reluctant love has certainly grown solid in these past months. And purrhaps it makes sense that a meteorologist and a cat have a deep bond.
Strange as it sounds, a search of #weathercat reveals cats have a fascination with forecasts and radars. They like to be weather aware for their plans. After all, thunderstorms can ruin the best snooze…

Paws for Prediction
Some cats can see the weather trends coming. Just like Walter Whitepaws and his prediction of weather “purrfect for socially-distant birdie watching”…a cat’s favorite!
Remember 14 News meteorologist Jeff Lyons and his weather cat Betty? Now Betty the Weather Cat has gone professional as the “Official Weather Cat for WFIE in Evansville, Indiana”. She “studied Meowteorology @ I MEW U” and her floofy forecasts are fan favorites.
So, it seems Todd Gutner and Aries are in good company as meteorologists and cats come together for purrfect conditions.
