We talk all the time about ensuring cat rescues have plenty of cat food, but do you know what else shelters and foster homes need when caring for felines? Cat litter! And lots of it. As a cat lover, you know kitty litter can get expensive, especially when you’ve got so many cats and kittens in care. But you play a big part in being sure all those rescue cats have a pan and plenty of litter to poop in! Cats like tabby man Murphy appreciate your help in giving them a clean spot to do their business. Murphy’s caretakers at Planned PEThood of Georgia are also happy for the fresh litter when scooping the kitty business!
And it’s all because you shop with purrpose. When you shop with iHeartCats, every single purchase funds donations for felines in need. Whether you purchase a cute cat shirt for yourself or supplements for your cat, that cart full of goodies gives compassion. Through our partnership with Greater Good Charities, we ensure shelter cats receive food and other necessities while waiting for their forever home.
These GOODS Help Lead to Homes
To date, the GOODS Program has delivered over 578 million meals to shelters and rescues nationwide. That’s more than 6,000 truckloads delivered to hungry animals! But it’s not just about the food. GOODS makes sure kitties get toys, collars, and that all important cat litter. And Murphy is thankful for all of it. He’s one of many kittens saved through Planned PEThood’s “Keep the Mama, Not the Drama” program.
A story often heard in the rescue world; Murphy came to the organization when a concerned cat lover contacted them for help about a mama cat caught in the kitten cycle.
“He had a mother cat who kept getting pregnant, then the kittens would too,” Planned PEThood explained. “What started as one kitty quickly bloomed into a small problem getting bigger every day. So we took Murphy and his kitten siblings into our rescue program.”
The rescue also happily reports that Murphy has become a foster fail! This cute tabby cat’s new mom shared that she and her grandchildren “have absolutely fallen for his adorable charms.”
Working Together
Planned PEThood of GA receives their GOODS donations via the Atlanta Humane Society’s Supply Share program, and the much-needed food, litter, toys, and other cat necessities make “a huge difference” for their foster families.
“We are able to routinely get supplies that are needed, but not necessarily budgeted for, such as new toys for foster homes, quality cat litter, new leashes and harnesses, and more. The program has been so successful, and so appreciated by our team, that as we get any excess donations at our rescue, we gratefully share them with AHS.”
“We hope to continue to ‘pay it forward’ as we can, and help other organizations with things like disposable gloves or poop bags, as we can.”
But it takes a team to make it all happen, and YOU are where it all starts. Every purchase means the world to a cat in need. So, treat yourself and your kitty, and keep saving lives!
