Mickey was a starving homeless cat. The white part of his ears was bloody and covered in flies. He had developed skin cancer there from the strong southern California sun. Dr. Bailey at Matilija Veterinarian Hospital removed the cancerous part of his ears, giving him a Mickey Mouse look. At the time of surgery, we ran a blood panel which showed that Mickey was severely anemic. This was due to blood loss from his cancer, parasites as worms and fleas. High-quality nutrition donated by Rescue Bank was an important part of his recovery.
Today Mickey is back to his playful self, and his gums and ears are pink. His ears have healed. He is now up for adoption and seeking a loving family that will keep him indoors.
“Mickey is one of 350 cats and kittens that we rescue in a year. Most of our donations go directly to veterinarian costs for spay/neuter, microchipping, vaccines and FeLV/FIV testing. The generous food donations from Rescue Bank allow our organization to help more cats in need.” – Greyfoot Cat Rescue & Sanctuary
