When stray kittens are born, they have so many obstacles to face. Aside from predators and inclement weather, stray mothers will often abandon their litters because they are simply unable to care for them.
Poor Nala was born into one of these litters, along with her three siblings. They were found when they were just a day old, tiny, helpless, and incredibly vulnerable.
The people who stumbled upon them waited to see if their mother would return to care for them…but she never did. Knowing that the babies didn’t have much time, they were taken to the Nevada SPCA No-Kill Animal Shelter.
The kittens were taken into the loving care of foster mom, Patricia. Tragically, three of the babies simply weren’t strong enough to survive. But one little fighter, named Nala, somehow beat the odds.
“This is the first time I lost 3 kittens all days apart,” Patricia wrote on Instagram. “I was emotionally exhausted and torn but this little miracle kept me going and helped me get up every 2 hrs around the clock…”
Patricia did everything she could to keep this little miracle healthy and happy. She swaddled her in warm, fluffy blankets and even gave her a stuffed animal that made a heartbeat sound to make her feel warm and secure.
(Have you ever seen a “purrito” cuter than this?!)
Because of all this wonderful love and care, Nala was able to eat well, rest often, and gain strength. Patricia was delighted to see this sweetheart growing bigger and healthier every day!
As she became more independent, Nala developed a healthy curiosity and began to explore the world around her.
Just look at her go!
She’s even begun to develop her own personality.
“Nala jumped in the bathtub. My little spunky cutie,” her proud foster mom wrote on Instagram.
Nala is around seven weeks old now, and as you can see, her transformation has been incredible. It’s all thanks to Patricia, her amazing foster mom — who is also caring for several other foster kittens!
