The Magnificent 7 Cats are Rocky, Dr Prince, Junior, Ugs, Princess Pixie, Tom and Norman. They live with their people in London, England.
Over the coming weeks, we’re going to be featuring each of the 7 cats starting with our Turkish Van, Junior.
With his pure white coat and bi-colour eyes, Junior’s striking beauty makes him one of the most instantly recognizable of the seven.
Junior – like David Bowie – has bi-colour eyes, a genetic condition known as heterochromia iridis, the Greek term for ‘differently coloured irises.’
Complete heterochromia is quite common in Turkish Vans and particularly in white cats or cats with the white-spotted gene although cats of any colour may be heterochromic.
In about 30% of cases, deafness in one or both ears can accompany heterochromia in cats. Happily, Junior’s hearing is just fine!
Junior spends most of his time indoors, but he’s very happy when he’s climbing and can often be seen high-up on walls and fences overlooking the small yards and gardens in his part of London.
Junior is instinctively a hunter and will chase anything which moves. Not surprisingly his favourite toy is the laser dart; he’d happily chase that little red laser light for hours.
Junior is really photogenic and loves having his picture taken. This is him posing on our garden table.
Junior’s over-riding characteristic is his lovingness. He’s happiest when he’s head-bumping, nudging, kissing and lying on his back to be tickled when he’ll stretch out his toes in ecstasy!
Slinky and perfect. Junior’s such a looker!
