Casey Christopher (aka, Casey Elise) is a Los Angeles-based photographer who takes photos of shelter cats on a volunteer basis. She’s also the proud new foster mom to a cat named Ambrosia and her litter of 8 kittens, and is documenting their progress through pictures.

These adorable little babies have the perfect names because they’re all inspired by sweet goodies: Marshmallow, Oreo, Biscotti, Peanut, Tiramisu, Cupcake, Buttercup, and Brownie. The kittens are less than a month old, and are still being doted on by their loving mama.

“Fostering kittens with a mama cat is always easier than fostering orphaned kittens,” Casey told iHeartCats. “I’m very happy to have Ambrosia; otherwise eight kittens would be overwhelming. Right now, it’s pretty straightforward since Ambrosia is doing most of the work — feeding them and cleaning them.”

Casey admits that when they’re a little older, she “imagines it will get much messier and more difficult,” but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I already love them so much; they can make a mess if they want.  It’s pretty impossible to be angry with a kitten.”

The litter will be adopted through the Friends for Life Rescue Network, which does pre-adoptions for families who want to provide forever homes for the babies, once they’re ready.

In the meantime, Casey wants to encourage others to consider fostering as “kitten season” approaches.

“Kitten season is starting and thousands of underage kittens will be entering animal shelters across the country,” she said in a story by Bored Panda. “Kittens cannot be adopted until they are eight weeks old so they need fosters to take care of them until then.”
