In life there is death and that is one of the scariest things that we must face. In death we might wonder what will happen to our beloved pets that are still living, and in the case of one woman in Maryland, she took it upon herself to let her cat know just exactly how much she loved her–even after she was gone.
Recently at an animal shelter in Maryland, a man arrived with a cat in tow that was his late mother’s. After his mother’s passing, he was unable to keep the feline due to rental restrictions at the building where he lives. The son wanted to take this cat, Susie, to find a good home –and it was important to him that his mother’s letter be received by the shelter.
The letter begins by saying: “Dear Friend. Thank you for adopting my friend, Susie.”
For two pages, this truly caring woman describes her sweet Susie, who is extremely shy and guarded. “Susie is afraid of everyone and everything. It took her six to eight months to realize I am her friend … Susie is unusual but I enjoy her company,” the letter reads. It describes one scary time when the kitty ran away for four days, but eventually came back. Now, wrote the woman, Susie won’t go outside except for on the porch, and as long as her human is by her side. She also gets along with the dog, as long as she can “keep some distance.”
“She is a good snuggler but she likes to be the boss,” she wrote.
After sharing many details of the cat which she adored, the woman closes the note by saying, “I hope you enjoy Susie as much as I have.”
To honor her previous owner’s wishes, the staff plan to give the letter to Susie’s new family once that day comes. We hope that little Susie finds a new home, and someone to love her just as much as her previous owner did. Share this sweet story with your friends!
