Mr. Chat is a “French disabled cat” living in Paris, France with quite a story to tell. Since his life was spared, this resilient white and tabby kitty has made sure to live life to the fullest!
As a kitten, Mr. Chat tragically fell out of a fourth story window. When his former owner realized that his back legs were paralyzed, they took him to the vet – to be euthanized. Luckily, the doctor refused to perform the task and took the kitty under his wing.
When Nathalie Miguet went into the vet’s clinic to purchase food for her own felines, they said they had a new friend to introduce to her.
“I went to my vet to buy some food for my other cats,”Nathalie explained to iHeartCats. “My vet’s assistant told me, ‘Did I introduce you our new resident? A little cat with a disability, he’s so cute, do you want to see him?'”
Naturally, Nathalie said yes!
“When I saw him, It was love at first sight,” she recalled. “I saw him play with my vet, he was totally crazy and he made me laugh…”
And the reason the doc spared Mr. Chat’s life?
“My vet told me that he refused the euthanasia because he saw in his eyes all the joy of life,” Nathalie said. “He couldn’t do that.”

When Nathalie got home, she told her boyfriend about the death-defying cat, who she couldn’t get out of her mind. She knew that he belonged with them, and after meeting Mr. Chat, her boyfriend agreed: they should take him home!
After “5 years of happiness,” the 6-year-old Mr. Chat is enjoying life just like any other cat who’s surrounded by love.
“He’s very full of life,” Nathalie told iHeartCats, adding that Mr. Chat is “addicted” to playing games and is always able to get to where he wants, despite his disability. He walks with his front legs while dragging his back legs behind him, and he can even pull himself up on the couch!
The kitty needs help going to the bathroom, but Nathalie doesn’t mind. They’ve even tried getting him a wheelchair, but he hated using it, preferring to get around all by himself!
Mr. Chat doesn’t let anything stop him.
“He loves all my other cats and he loves to play with them,” Nathalie said.
“He’s very sweet and lovely. He asks me what he wants with his eyes – he talks a lot with his eyes.”
Mr. Chat’s mom loves him so much, she even got a tattoo of his portrait!
“All animals deserve to live,” Nathalie said. “With him, I understand that. I love him so much, he deserves it, he gives me a lots of things.”
She added, “A disabled cat or dog can live and be happy. Adopt a special need cat or dog, you will see with your own eyes.”
We wholeheartedly agree!
