Gone are the old ways as science and technology have banished bogeymen and creatures of lore into hiding. But every so often comes an occurrence that just can’t be explained, and those old fears of things that go bump in the night resurface from the order of the rational.
Recent footage from a home security camera has left more than 3 million TikTok users standing in the world of the unexplainable as well as fearing for a cat. The video capture isn’t long, only 18-seconds in length, but it’s certainly enough to shake up everything you know to be real. And the cats and dogs in the video feel the same way—especially the cat harassed by the unknown entity.
Ghost Vs. Cat
TikTok user Stardustannie posted the eerie occurrence to their page, and though it’s only 18 seconds long, there’s more suspense than some horror flicks. As the video begins, Slate, one of the two dogs in the living room, hops off the couch and paces the living room with a tucked tail while a tuxedo cat watches Nico, another kitty, exit the kitchen.
About 8 seconds in, Nico spooks at the bumping behind him and whirls around to see what’s up. And then, for three seconds, we’re suspended in waiting with breaths held before a cat flies out from behind the wall in a clattering commotion. The watching animals jump at the sight, vexed at what they saw. As there is nothing for the human eye to see, we can’t help but wonder if their perceptive eyes can see beyond the veils of the supernatural.
Alone in the house at the time of the ‘haunting’ and unable to find any reasonable explanation, Stardustannie captioned the post, “I think our cat (Huck) got thrown across the kitchen this morning by an unseen force…thoughts?”
The “thoughts” poured in via comment, ranging from skepticism to straight-up fear, with one user asking, “Is it just me… or do I get strong feeling that this sinking feeling that is really.. Really bad?”
“Is it just me or did anyone else see the orb in the top right corner seconds after the cat was thrown?” asked another user.
Another showed some feistiness, declaring, “That ghost would die twice. nobody messes with my kitties.”
While she could find no ghost to bust for messing with her kitty, the concerned cat mom let everyone know Huck was doing fine and not injured after the incident. They also posted a zoomed-in GIF of the moment Huck was thrown to show better what happened.
Since posting the original footage, Stardustannie has posted updates explaining the setup of the furniture behind the wall and how it would be difficult not to see anyone standing in the spot from which Huck was thrown. She’s not one hundred percent sure a ghost attacked her cat, but she’s exhausted possibility after possibility searching for a logical answer. At this point, she can’t find one.
