When you purchase products from the iHeartCats store, a portion of those proceeds go to Greater Good Charities. Greater Good’s Rescue Bank program donates healthy meals to animals at a variety of shelters and rescues. These meals allow organizations to focus their funds on medical needs and other care requirements. They have saved the lives of many cats like Mona Lisa.
Mona Lisa was a semi-feral cat who was found at a busy bus stop in San Jose during the pandemic. The Russian Blue mix was close to her litter of kittens, who she had been bravely protecting. Karma Cat Rescue, which operates an adoption lounge called The Dancing Cat, captured the cats and brought them to the rescue.
The rescue spayed Mona Lisa and placed her in a foster home when she was ready. Yet, she was very hesitant at first. For several weeks, she struggled and refused to open up to her foster family. But after a month, things started to change for the better.
Love Changes Everything
At first, Mona Lisa’s foster family kept her in her own room to give her some time to decompress. By week four, she was willing to nap on humans’ laps. She even let her foster dad pet her for long periods, even though she was terrified of him at first.
As Mona Lisa got more comfortable in her foster home, she became more trusting toward humans. To display her trust, she showed them her belly. She started playing with toys around them and even sitting on their laps. Everyone at the rescue quickly fell in love with her silly personality, but they also admired how beautifully she posed for adoption photos.
Karma Cat Rescue is one of the organizations that receive healthy pet food from Greater Good’s Rescue Bank. With those donations, they can save the money they’d usually spend on food. It allows them to take better care of the adoptable cats and take in more felines as needed.
Every purchase from the iHeartCats store could change the lives of cats like Mona Lisa. So, thank you to all the kind heroes who have purchased products to save animals in need!
