The cat in this video, Bamboo, went blind due to an infection he acquired as a feral kitten. Things started looking up for Bamboo when an artist named Laura Brouwers decided to adopt him. Using her YouTube Channel, which she usually uses to post videos of her art, she has started posting videos of Bamboo. Her videos show how Bamboo recovered from the surgery that removed his eyes because of the infection. Since a cat’s sense of smell and hearing are far more developed than a human, Bamboo is still able to use those senses and function like a normal cat.
According to PetPlace.com Veterinarians, “Your cat’s sense of smell is superior; it is one of the ways in which she interacts with her environment. Her nostrils are working constantly. Her nose is small and neat, but hidden behind it is a maze of bones and organs. Cats have 19 million odor-sensitive cells in their noses compared to 200 million in dogs and about 5 million in humans.” Added to that, “A cat’s sense of hearing is amazing. Cats can hear high frequency sounds that we cannot, and they can also distinguish the tone or pitch of a sound better than we can.”
As you can see in the video, being blind does not keep Bamboo from enjoying a full and normal life! Thanks to Laura for sharing Bamboo’s progress with us! Now take a look at this video that shows Bamboo’s first day in his furever home.
